The Zonta Club of Melbourne Area was chartered on December 1, 1983


Zonta International is a leading global organization of professionals empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.


Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.

In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men.

In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.

Melbourne’s Zontians opened their ears and hearts to the needs of the community. This caring attitude is reflected in its many service projects. Members attend meetings monthly to coordinate community projects and fundraising activities.

The Zonta Club of Melbourne and Zonta International are focused on advancing the status of women globally, nationally and locally.

Zonta takes it name of the Lakota-Sioux Native American word meaning for “Honest and Trustworthy.”

Zonta Club of Melbourne is in District 11 which includes the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi,the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands.

Zonta International was founded in 1919. Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women world-wide through service and advocacy.

Zonta International’s story does not end here. Today, Zonta International is a global organization of nearly 30,000 members in 1,200 Zonta clubs in 66 countries.
